Chris Haslam in “Almost: Round Three” for Absolutely No Good Reason at All
This old-ish (2004) segment is one of my favorite video parts of all time. The one-footed s**t at 1:23 and 2:37 blows me away every time. What a hairy beast.

This old-ish (2004) segment is one of my favorite video parts of all time. The one-footed s**t at 1:23 and 2:37 blows me away every time. What a hairy beast.

This story hit the AP wires over the weekend:
A professional skateboarder is facing a felony charge of committing a lewd act with a 15-year-old girl.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department says 36-year-old Brian Patch was arrested on May 14 at his home in Westminster. He is scheduled to be arraigned next month on a charge that he molested the girl in April.

• The Beauty and the Beast Tour hit Lincoln City, and Rick McCrank, Robbie Russo, and Peter Hewitt hit the big wall. But the tastiest segment? The five-dollar foot long freestyle. (Thrasher)
• Rick Howard, Max Schaaf, Tony Trujillo, Robbie Russo, Alex Olson, and Peabody turn park ‘crete into the Beauty and the Beast 500. So fun. (Thrasher)

Good footy of Busenitz on some benches. Peep it here.

Is Rune Glifberg the best tranny skater right now? Maybe. Maybe not. But does the Dane rule the roost in terms of contest winnings? Yes. Definitely.
Glifberg won this past weekend’s Vans Pro-Tec Pool Party. According to Etnies, that’s Glifberg’s third win in four years of the event. Should set him up nicely for this year’s Bowlriders in Malmo, Sweden (June 12-15). I’ll post the footy as it comes in. In the meantime, check out Etnies’ recap for photos and whatnot.

Thought Twitter was solely the domain of tech-nerds and chatty high-schoolers? No? Me neither. That’s just dumb. I mean, everyone’s blogging from their mobiles these days; even big-time NBA stars like Utah Jazz point guard Deron Williams. A choice excerpt:
“Just woke up from my nap. Can’t believe it’s snowing.”
That’s just so goth somehow.

Here’s a look at tonight’s game. Man, I get tired of pimping my own garbage. This will probably end soon …

I’m sure the graffiti/street-art sites are all over this, but if you’ve got a minute, peep this cool vid by Muto. He turns city walls in Buenos Aires and Baden into his own personal flipbook. (Respek: Jeffs to Brazil)

Nice.
I haven’t had a chance to watch these yet, but I think these are all the parts for DVS’ new video, “Dudes Dudes Dudes”. Can’t wait to check it out on the train tomorrow (it’s available as a Podcast too). Go to DVSSkate.com for more. Whirred.

If Tim Meadows could ball (3:05), and came from Washington, D.C., he’d be Delonte West. This video is back from a little over a year ago when West was a guard with the Celtics. Highlights include:
0:06 … “This is the cup that I love. This is it. I love it. I love it because it’s a cup.”
3:49 … “Twenty years from now you gonna see me ridin’ in a drop-top Hummer, butt naked, with some ankle socks on, and a Boston Celtics headband, standing up, driving from Boston to California. Butt naked. Sixty years old.”
4:31 … “Who would I be for one day? You gotta be Bugs Bunny. Bugs Bunny is the smoothest dude I ever met. I mean, I didn’t meet him … Well, I did meet him once, but you wouldn’t even believe me if I told you.”
I got a chance to “interview” Yao Ming via a cool video-conferencing technology on Thursday. Here’s a feature and a blog post about it. And here are some photos. Woot, barf, grumble.

This is happening. Again. For reals.
I know I’ve relaunched and rebranded this site countless times since its inception in Sept. 2001, but this time I reckon it will stick. Why? Well, it’s springtime and I’m feeling light and breezy after a busy, if not hectic, back end of the calendar. I’m married now, we just moved to Brooklyn, and, most importantly, I purged my server. (Just kidding, Lisa.)
But the site’s spring cleaning was necessary, if only to get rid of the “138″ sub-directory; pages be published right off the .com url now. Plus, it’s good to be rid of all the stray MP3’s in the media folder (those music-bots have crazy long tentacles), and hopefully I won’t get too many more click-throughs from people googling “Friendster” (somehow, Krucoff’s to blame/credit for that one). If you’re here, you want to be here. That’s how things started out, and that’s how they should continue moving forward.
So, in closing, welcome back. And please pardon our appearance while we remodel; we’re still trying to figure out where this damn RSS feed should go. It clashes with the search box.

Here’s an utterly head-scratching report on Baghdad (in war-torn Iraq, stupid) becoming a tourist destination. And the first thing that’s going to draw tourists in? A Baghdad skateboard park. Guh. From the report:
An L.A.-based holding company for equity firms, C3, has confirmed it’s starting “a $500 million project to build an amusement park on the outskirts of the Green Zone in an area encompassing the Baghdad Zoo. The first phase, a skateboard park, is scheduled to open this summer.”
While it’s somewhat flattering to think that skateboarding can help lead to the rejuvenation of a nation torn asunder by war, economic strife and an egomaniacal dictator with a moustache, there’s a small, cynical part of me that can’t help but think that this is just some clever plot to eradicate skaters by sending them to ride in the middle of a battlefield. Skate or die? Nope. Skate and die, snitches.
